This month's shenanigans

First things first we had a lovely day today having our 20 week scan for Baby Pip!
Love having the scans, particularly the 20 week ones which are a bit less rushed. It's crazy the detail they look at the baby, seeing the individual heart chambers is amazing. Nemo made the experience somewhat hilarious.
When I first lay on the bed and lifted my top Nemo looked at my tummy and said "looking good Mummy!" Nemo really enjoyed watching Baby Pip on the scan but has some definate ideas regarding the baby's gender!
We decided to keep it a secret but when we kept telling Nemo that the baby could be a boy or a girl he kept insisting it was a boy. Nemo repeatedly tried to explain to the sonographer that he had a little sister and didn't need another girl!
Nemo cracked me up laughing so much that the poor sonographer couldn't get the measurements she needed because I moved too much! When I eventually managed to stop laughing Pip got in an awkward position covering up its face with its hands so I had to have a wee and a funny dance in the corridor so get the baby to move!

But after all that all the checks were done and we felt very fortunate to know that baby Pip is developing as you would hope. What lucky parents we are :)

Really excited!! Eek!!

So in other news you won't be surprised to hear it's been a busy month. I have spent considerable time making various food items for operation feeding the masses.
Made some ginger and carrot some (I say some it is actually enough for 20!)
The sheer amount of onions I needed to dice required some interesting measures...

Peeling and cutting huge quantity of carrots took its toll on my fingers...

So here you have bagged soup for freezing

And my poor kitchen afterwards even with hubby helping clean up

So onto the chilli for 16 people, it only just fit into the slow cooker
Nemo hasn't been too impressed with all the food that I've been cooking to not eat straight away!
Freezer is starting to get pretty full...

My mum came over one day and helped me make ginger bread stuffing, 2 trays of rocky road and 1 of 3 chocolate Yule logs.

Stuffing and Yule log all wrapped up

1 of 2 rocky roads made.

I have now accomplished nearly all 7 items to premake, I just need to bake two more Yule logs and I'm done!

Mum also came over to see Nemo sing Christmas carols with his classmates. Nemo had said before he wasn't going to sing, he did participate a little however had obviously delegated the majority of the singing and accompanying actions to the other children!

Here's my mums photo of him afterwards

Loneliness whilst hubby was away in Bristol for his work's Christmas party led me to crocheting the children some socks. This did in part cause Nemo to skid and fall getting him a really nasty bump to his head from the doorframe. Oops!

Pebble does have two socks too but I just couldn't find the other when I took this photo!

This week was the landlord inspection. We try and keep the house nice and tidy and clean generally but me and Hubby spent a long time trying to get everything absolutely perfect which does have the upside that the house is ready for Christmas now! It also saw Poppy get a new bed as her old one was getting a bit stinky and however much I washed it the dog smell didn't seem to go!

Poppy seems to be very happy with her new bed! (Note the reindeer outfit!)

Last Friday despite the chaos that surrounds Christmas I decided that I wanted to knit Pebble a rabbit poncho I saw (curse Pinterest!)
I actually paid for the pattern as well which I hardly ever do! I got it from here:

I went on Friday to my local wool shop to get my wool and ditched the housework in the afternoon to start knitting. Saturday I wasn't feeling very well so my lovely husband allowed me to sit down all day and knit some more. In Saturday night I managed to finish it! I was quite impressed at my speediness!

Looks fairly mundane from the front...

But at the back bunny ears on the hood and a bunny tail!!!!
Ok so it's supposed to be baggy and I made it a size bigger then Pebble so it's massive but how cute!!!

Have to say that the pattern was pretty easy in the whole and I can recommend it.

Whilst I spent time feeling unwell in bed Nemo was so sweet. When I told him I wasn't feeling very well he said "I will look after you Mummy" and proceeded to bring all his cars, balance them on the headboard of my bed explaining that they would make me feel better. Anyone who knows my little boy will know how precious they are to him and how utterly sweet he was in that moment!
I try to remember this when he tells me he doesn't like me because of some seemingly trivial thing outside of my control!

The children, particularly Nemo, is very excited for Christmas. Nemo is very able to tell you exactly how many sleeps it is until the big event and what he has asked Santa for.
We took Pebble and Nemo to see Santa at a local grotto. At £3.50 each for a visit and present it proved to be a much more ecconomical visit then some others I've seen advertised!
I wouldn't mind Santa coming around our house at times because I've never known the children so quiet!

Nemo despite his unusual shyness was able to convert his desire for a fire engine. He was subsequently unimpressed when the present given which he opened after wasn't a fire engine but a jigsaw puzzle!

The paper is a drawing Nemo did for Santa!

Pebble very reluctantly sat on Santas lap at the end but happily chewed on her gift and was more impressed with her present which was a mouse :)

We have enjoyed frequent trips to a street very close to our house which we have named 'Christmas street' you will perhaps realise why. (This photos are my mum's!)

The street is just full of lights, it's quite striking.

Well I've got 2 more Yule logs to make and house to tidy so I will leave you with these cute photos

And just to keep it real...

:D
